Harro! We're Cameron and Whitney. We live in the beautiful city of Seattle where we sip coffee, inhale happy hour bar food, watch cartoons, read comic books, and chase squirrels. Everyday. In that order.
While the blog is about the two of us, the captain of this ship is the Cameron half of Cameron + Whitney....and first order of business as captain is to let you know a little bit more about me!
I'm a 25 year old self taught artist who likes to chat up all the crazy cat-ladies at my local craft store. I watch too many cartoons, I read too many comic books, I buy too many art books, I eat an unhealthy amount of gogurt which I ironically don't eat "on the go." I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in art history, and after working in (and practically running) a small gallery, I decided I'd rather hang my own art on gallery walls than someone else's.
I've doodled in the margins of my homework all my life, then I got a job custom painting piggy banks at the Nordstrom flagship store here in downtown Seattle, and now I'm pursuing a freelance career with a fairly new medium to me (but by far the most fun), papersulpting. I have since launched my own store on Etsy, cameronpluswhitney, where I sell my various original papersculpts and prints!
Most of my artwork is highly influenced by cartoons and Disney movies, which is apparent in the bright colors I regularly use and the whimsical nature I try to capture.
My biggest inspirations however are the two women I love the most, my beautiful mother who was the closest thing to an art teacher I've ever had, and the absolute love of my life, Whitney.

*I erased my older brother's saved game on the original Nintendo's Legend of Zelda on at least 3 separate occasions when I was young, and since then I have developed severe anxiety when I play any Zelda game
*I have 4 wonderful puppies in my life that you'll find sporadically scattered throughout my blog posts: Yogi Bear, Fozzie Bear (lhasa apsos), Ivy (maltese), and Momo (maltese/papillon)
*My goal in life is to someday buy a sword so that I can begin my training to be a Highlander
*After many courses of studying modern art from 1920s-1970s, I made an educated decision that I dislike it very much so. Especially from artists who mimic it today. Sorry, but imitating what looks like poop on a canvas doesn't draw any immediate visceral response for me.....only the notion that the artist thought their big break would be pooping on a canvas
*I grew up watching the original Japanese versions of Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman.....then America ruined it with cheesy english
*I've seen every episode of "How It's Made" multiple times, so I have since added the word "everything" under the skills section of my resume
*When I first started out at trying to be a legitimate artist, my portfolio only consisted of dental floss macaroni necklaces and a picture of me competing in a hot dog eating contest
